File exports are useful, but they only provide static data. If you rely on Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to build pivot tables, custom charts, and executive dashboards, static files create a tedious weekly chore. Every time you need an updated report, you are pushed to manually export the latest CSV from Jira and copy-paste the new data into your formatted spreadsheet.

While you can technically use the Timepiece REST API to automate this data transfer, doing so usually requires custom development work. If you do not have the time or engineering resources to write integration scripts, that data stays stuck in Jira.

We built a shortcut.

Ready-to-Use Spreadsheet Templates

To completely remove the development bottleneck, we have prepared sample integration files for both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

These files come pre-configured with the basic functionality you need to connect your spreadsheet directly to the Timepiece REST API. You do not need to write any code from scratch.

How the Integration Works

These sample files act as a foundation for your custom reporting. Here is how they work:

Set Your Parameters: Open the sample file and input your specific Timepiece REST API parameters (like your project keys or date ranges).

Click to Refresh: We have built a functioning "Run" button directly into the spreadsheet.

Instant Data Transfer: When you click the button, the file automatically calls the REST API, pulls your latest Jira time-in-status data, and populates your spreadsheet.

You can use these templates as a starting point. Once your data is flowing, you can build your pivot tables and charts on top of it. From that point on, updating your weekly reports is as simple as opening the file and clicking "Run" to refresh the raw data.
