If you manage Jira dashboards, configure executive reports, or work as a Scrum Master, you're familiar with the frustration of static date filters. Updating a "Last Month" report shouldn't require you to manually change the calendar dates on the 1st of every month.
To solve this, we are thrilled to introduce the Dynamic Date Picker for Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira. This feature is designed to put your temporal reporting on true autopilot, completely removing the friction of managing date ranges.
What is the Dynamic Date Picker?
The Dynamic Date Picker is a comprehensive upgrade to how you select date ranges for your Timepiece reports. By switching between "Static" and "Dynamic" modes, you can generate reports based on a fixed date window or have the start/end dates of the report adjust according to the date/time the report is run.

Static Dates or Dynamic Anchors: Set exact static dates (e.g., “May 1st, 2026 12:00 AM”) for your report or set moving windows based on dynamic anchor points (e.g., "Start of this month," "End of last week," etc.) that automatically change the report dates in sync with the current date.
Fine-Tuning: Shift your dynamic anchor point forward or backward using a simple up/down interface for Years, Months, Weeks, Days, and Hours. (e.g., “2 days after the start of the current month“)
Mix & Match Flexibility: You are not locked into a single mode. You can easily pair a Static Start Date (e.g., the exact kickoff date of a major Q3 initiative) with a Dynamic End Date (e.g., 'End of last week') to perfectly track ongoing, long-term projects without ever adjusting the parameters again.
Dual Control: You can apply this date filtering to both Filter Dates and Trim Dates.
Presets: Instantly apply standard time frames from a built-in list, ranging from short intervals (Last 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 hours) to broader periods (This/Last Week, This/Last Month, This/Last Quarter, This/Last Year).

How It Helps You
Zero-Maintenance Dashboard Gadgets
Previously, Timepiece gadget dates were limited to a simple "last x days" format. We have completely overhauled the "Dates" configuration to give you ultimate flexibility. You can now build highly customized, self-updating dashboards using a wide array of new dynamic presets:
-
This Year & Last Year
-
This Quarter & Last Quarter
-
This Month & Last Month
-
This Week & Last Week
-
Today & Yesterday
-
Hourly intervals (Last 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 hours)
When you set a Cycle Time gadget to "Last Month," it will always display the correct data. You set it once, and the dashboard maintains itself. And of course, you can still use our Drill-Down capability to click any bar on these charts and instantly see the specific Jira issues behind the data.
Truly Autonomous Scheduled Reports
Timepiece lets you put your reporting on autopilot by distributing reports via Scheduled Reports or alerting your team via email, Slack, and MS Teams. By combining the Dynamic Date Picker with these automations, your scheduled reports become truly self-sufficient. For example, your 'Daily Engineering Output' report will dynamically calculate 'Yesterday's' data, from the start of the day to the end of the day, and securely deliver the fresh data every single night before it hits your inbox.
Fresh Data with Fine-Tuning
When tracking critical metrics like Cycle Time, Lead Time, and Resolution Time, a rigid date filter might not align with your specific operational hours or time zones. Using the new fine-tuning menu, you can take a dynamic anchor point, such as "Start of today", and precisely adjust it by adding or subtracting specific hours or days. This ensures your Time in Status analysis perfectly matches your shift schedules and excludes statistically irrelevant periods.
